Trained as a traditional illustrator in my early years,
I still enjoy picking up a brush and using real paint now and then.

Yep, a Velvet Elvis. As any real artist must do in their lifetime.
This classier rendition was commissioned by an old friend
who has a solid appreciation for The King.
He (my friend Matt, not Elvis) made the frame,
as he is a phenomenal woodworker.
(See is amazing exotic wood bowls, furniture, etc here.)

A silly portrait of musicians "They Might Be Giants"
as fake comic book heroes. I added some digital text
over the scanned painting and gave them each
a framed print at the may 2007 rochester show.
I surprised my wife on our anniversary with tickets
and an arrangement to meet the band after the show.
She was thrilled and they autographed a third print for
us to keep (you can see their autographs in gold pen. fun!).
